WALK-IN-INTERVIEW

 

                The National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is looking for prospective candidates for filling up the following position to cater to the requirements of its ongoing Project “Interhemispheric teleconnection between the Southern Tropical Indian Ocean & Indian monsoon (ISRO-GBP project)”. The position is purely temporary on contract basis under the project mode, initially for a period of one year but likely to continue for project duration.  Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are invited to attend the walk-in-interview at NCAOR on 15.09.2010 (Wednesday) (from 9.00 AM onwards)

Essential: (i) Master's degree in Physics/Geophysics/Geo Chemistry or Zoology or Biology or Geology or Fisheries or Oceanography with atleast first class(60%)  at Graduation/post-graduation) from a recognized University OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering /Technology (First Class with not less than 60% marks) from a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) Eighteen years' experience in teaching (at graduate or post graduate level), Research and Development /Survey/ Administration/ Planning/ Supervision or Management related to Oceanographic / Polar (Antarctica / Arctic) expeditions   logistics.

 

Desirable: - (i) Doctorate in any branch of Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University (ii) Experience in planning/management related to Oceanographic / Polar (Antarctica / Arctic) expeditions logistics.

 

Job Requirements: The incumbent will be head of the logistics and primarily responsible to take

lead role  :

(i)      In Planning, logistics related scientific activities, co-ordination and execution of Indian Antarctic expedition. (ii)To maintain /manage the Indian stations in Antarctica and all activities related to construction of new station at Antarctica. (iii)Planning for launching activities , transshipment of expedition cargo , co-ordination with various agencies  for chartering of ship and helicopters etc.(iv) In all other duties related to Oceanographic/Antarctic and Arctic matter or duties as  assigned by Director/NCAOR from time to time.
